Finally, Evelyn Healed of Flat Feet!

Evelyn Hammer (75) Had Been Flat-Footed All Her Life Evelyn Hammer suffered from flat feet since birth, and the condition worsened over time. Each step became increasingly painful. Was there no one who could help?

Evelyn, originally from Engeløya in Steigen, Norway, became a Christian at 16 after attending the Pentecostal church Sion in Storjord, Tysfjord. Her parents were Pentecostals who belonged to a small outreach congregation on the island.

The Orthopedist’s Diagnosis: Transverse Flat Feet

Evelyn first experienced severe foot pain while attending nursing school in Oslo in 1969 at age 19. The school was part of Ullevål Hospital. On her doctor’s advice, she consulted an orthopedic specialist, who diagnosed her with transverse flat feet.

“I would feel exhausted in my feet after walking on hard floors or taking long outdoor walks,” Evelyn recalls.

From 1969 to 2007, Evelyn primarily worked as a nurse’s aide, living in various places, including Oslo, Åros, Tønsberg, Bergen, and Solbergelva. Her husband Magnus (80), originally from Værøy, worked as a toolmaker for many years.

Working long hours on hard hospital corridors caused her excruciating pain. The orthopedic specialist in Oslo provided custom insoles, which Evelyn used for many years, replacing them as they wore out. Later, she began using orthopedic shoes, which offered some relief.

Evelyn and I first crossed paths when she was 18 and working as a housemaid in Narvik. She also attended a business school there and frequently went to meetings at the Pentecostal church Smyrna, where I occasionally attended as well. We became acquainted briefly, but over the years, I lost track of her. Then, 52 years later, she reappeared at our center.

The Miracle

On June 28, 2021, Evelyn attended a prayer session at our center in Vennesla, accompanied by her husband, Magnus. Evelyn described the prayer room as filled with a powerful spiritual atmosphere.

“Svein-Magne placed my feet on his lap while he prayed for them. God’s presence was overwhelming—it felt wonderful. I cried the entire time he prayed for me,” Evelyn recounts, visibly moved.

After the prayer session, Evelyn and Magnus visited his brother on Flekkerøya near Kristiansand. That evening, something extraordinary happened:

“I lay down on the sofa at around 7 PM at our friends’ home. Suddenly, I felt invisible hands gripping both my feet. When I woke up the next morning at 5:30, I felt the same sensation—something was gripping my feet.”

To her amazement, Evelyn discovered that both her feet had developed a proper arch!

From that moment, Evelyn was able to walk long distances without experiencing any pain. God had healed her! Now, three years after the flat-foot miracle, she remains completely pain-free.

Although I had forgotten about Evelyn over the years, she hadn’t forgotten me. Boldly, she asked for prayer from someone she had met 52 years earlier. God uses people to accomplish His miracles!
