Arild from Brevik Had a PSA of 17!

God heals in many ways. One of these is healing through divine guidance combined with words of knowledge.

A man from Drangedal called our office and asked if we could come to Drangedal to pray for him. Solveig and I felt led to do as he requested. It was on Solveig’s birthday, Friday, October 28, 2016. We got into the mission car and drove to Drangedal. We spent quality time with him and prayed for his ailments.

A Divine Wrong Turn

On the way home, I took a wrong turn. Instead of heading toward the E-18, I accidentally drove toward Brevik. A thought struck me: In Brevik, our two friends, Thorunn and Arild Iversen, live. Why not visit them? I called them and got an immediate response: “Welcome! Dinner is almost ready!”

Arild is originally from Ballstad in Lofoten, where his parents owned a general store. In 1955, Arild purchased a grocery store in Brevik, which he ran until 1991.

When we arrived, we were greeted with warm words and smiles from both of them. After dinner, we sat in the living room. Arild sat on a loveseat nearby. Suddenly, my eyes were drawn to Arild’s stomach, and a voice inside me told me to pray for his stomach. I mentioned it to him, and he was perfectly fine with it. So, I prayed for him.

A Concerned Doctor

A few days earlier, Arild had undergone his annual health check with his general practitioner in Brevik, including a blood test. On Monday, October 31—the following week—Arild received a call from his doctor, who was concerned about the test results. His PSA level was measured at 17, significantly higher than the normal level of 4. Although the doctor didn’t say it outright, it’s well known that elevated PSA levels increase the risk of prostate cancer.

On November 7, Arild had a follow-up appointment with his GP, who had already scheduled him for a consultation with a urologist at the hospital in Porsgrunn. The doctor sent the results to the hospital, where the specialists focused on prostate issues.

When Arild met the specialist in Porsgrunn, the doctor looked at him and asked, “What are you doing here?” Arild explained his PSA level had been recorded at 17. The doctor responded, “No, it’s not. Your PSA is 4.” Arild was healed! He went home with fantastic news!

A Lasting Healing

Since then, 90-year-old Arild has gone for annual check-ups with his GP, and his PSA has consistently been normal. At his most recent check-up, his PSA was as low as 3.

Thorunn, Arild’s wife, expressed her gratitude for the unexpected visit years ago: “Arild is both thankful and happy that you prayed for him. Prayer gives us a sense of security.”
