Sigurd was a fisherman all his professional life, and has owned and operated many boats with up to eight men on board. One day in the mid 1990's, he suddenly felt as if something had struck him in the chest while he was at work, and he could not get out of the boat without calling for help.
He ended up in the hospital in Kirkenes, where doctors discovered that he had angina pectoris – angina. The doctor prescribed nitroglycerin tablets, and after that he used this medication daily.
He continued to work as a commercial fisher until he went off into his pension in 1999. Even though it was hard work, he took nitro and kept it going.
Currents
In the autumn 2002, he heard that Svein-Magne was visiting his home town of BÃ¥tsfjord, Finnmark and was going to have a healing service in the sports arena there. Sigurd had long believed in healing through prayer. He had seen Svein-Magne several times on TV, and wanted make use of the opportunity to receive prayer. When Svein-Magne said a corporate prayer for the whole congregation to receive healing, Sigurd received his miracle.
-I was standing in the congregation holding my hands on my chest and heart. Then I felt currents flowing from my head and far down my back. Since then I had not felt anymore of the angina. I have not taken any tablets for it either, because the symptoms are gone, he said.
Lots of working
Sigurd says that he has done much work in the time that has passed, that would not have been possible for him to do when he was sick.
-I have been doing carpentry and construction. I carry heavy objects, shovel snow and I do what I want to do, smiles the sprightly 78-year-old.
